December 2014–A Month in Review

One of the exciting events in December was the evening my friend Deb and I went into Toronto to see Donny and Marie’s Christmas Show.  We had a great time and they are amazing entertainers!  If you ever get an opportunity to see either or both of them in person I would highly recommend it!

I don’t know what it is about this picture but each time I see this view it means something special to me.  It is Hannah walking to school with Ange, her boys and the other family that Ange cares for.  I cannot express how much Ange’s family means to me as Hannah loves being with them and she receives exceptional care!  There is nothing like the peace that is provided knowing that Hannah is being cared for so well!!  Thank you Ange!!!

Hannah was pretty excited the day she got to wear her pyjamas to school!  There are days I wish I could wear my comfy jammies to work!

Hannah is a great little chef and she was excited to help me prepare parts of Christmas dinner.  She peeled potatoes like a pro!  I giggled at how she lined them up before she began peeling.

Hannah received a new game called, ‘Disney’s Eye Found It’ and it’s been a lot of fun to play it together! 

After Christmas we traveled to Windsor to celebrate with our extended family.  Most of my extended family lives there so it’s great to visit with them!  Hannah with her second cousin Nathan.

2014 was a great year!  I’m excited to see what 2015 will hold!

Doing the Dishes or Taking a Sink Bath?

Hannah is at an age when she’s all about helping Mommy and truly, I love it!  She really can be helpful even when it takes a little longer to get things done.

One of the chores she likes to help with is the dishes.  Sometimes I pull up the learning tower and let her go at it and other times she dives right in when I’m in the midst of washing.  She throws her entire body into the process as you can see and normally ends up soaking wet!  As long as we have time to either change her or let her enjoy some diaper time until it’s pj time it’s all good.  Occasionally I have to discourage her as I don’t have time to change her after her play and let me tell you, she’s not impressed with Mommy when that’s the answer she gets.

Here are a few pics taken over the past couple of weeks.  On both of these occasions it was an impromptu decision to help Mommy, thus her choice to climb on the couch to reach the sink.  I think it’s adorable how she’s made a little seat for herself there.

Someday I’ll be longing for her to help so, when things take longer than normal right now I remind myself that she’s doing her very best to help and try as often as I can to accept that help. 

It was all good until the almonds started flying!

Most mornings as I’m making my lunch Hannah is in her high chair eating breakfast and we ‘chat’ while I putter in the kitchen.  This morning she was finished before I was so I decided to let her help me pack my lunch.  She was having a great time putting everything into the lunch bag and taking it back out again but then I gave her a little piece of plastic wrap that had some slivered almonds in it.  Before I knew it there were almonds flying everywhere and she was having fun making it ‘rain’!  :o)  

 

It may take a little longer to get things done with my little helper by my side but I wouldn’t have it any other way!!

Mommy’s Little Helper

Hannah is at a stage where she loves to help mommy and do everything I do. Doing dishes often involves little hands in the soapy water which sounds great until that water goes flying. Oops! She’s also great at helping me move the laundry from the washer to the dryer and tidying her toys too….until one takes her interest and then she’s lost in play just as she should be at 18 months of age!

One of the other things she loves is our little electric broom. She’s a great help and can now do this on her own while I do something else. Some bits get missed but that’s just fine. I’m thankful for the help and she’s SO proud of herself!!

Helping Mommy Garden

Hannah has helped mommy become very creative. We cut the lawn with her in the snuggly and this week she played in her exersaucer while I planted our flowers. Normal events are just so much more fun now that I'm sharing them with her!!
