Welcome Back Bobble Chippey!

Bobble Chippey surprised Hannah by arriving a few days early this year.  She’d had a rough week and was a little under the weather so she guessed he came early to cheer her up.  So sweet that she thought of this.
He decorated the table to announce his arrival.
Something really sweet happened this year!  Bobble Chippey had arrived in the middle of the night, set the table and since my camera’s flash is broken he’d opened the curtains on the downstairs window so that Mommy could take pictures in the morning. 
Before going to bed the last thing I did was set Hannah’s Christmas Minnie hat on the arm of the couch, mere feet from the kitchen table. 
I woke up around 6:30 on the day Bobble Chippey arrived and looked over to see Hannah laying with her eyes closed….wearing the Minnie hat!  She could tell I was awake and asked how long I wanted to sleep but didn’t let on a thing.  I said until around 8:00 but by 7:30 I couldn’t do it to her any longer.  She still hadn’t said a thing!  I got up and while I brushed my teeth she went downstairs then ran back up calling out with excitement, ‘Mommy!  Mommy!  Bobble Chippey is back!!’  She had found him sometime before 6:30 but not said a word as she knew I liked to sleep in on Saturday mornings when I could.  What a sweetheart!
We quickly went downstairs and breakfast a la Bobble Chippey (BC) began.  This year he’d set out pancakes with crushed candy canes, bacon was in the fridge along with chocolate milk.
Before watching the new DVD BC brought she enjoyed the book.
Since he arrived BC has had fun finding a new place to sit each day.  It seems this year he pays attention to what we’re doing one day and the next day he’s often found in a similar location.
The day after Hannah received a box of books from a friend he was checking out one of them.

When we unpacked this snow globe Hannah had made last year the snowman had come loose and now floats upside down.  BC thought it would be fun to hand out with the snowman.

This morning Bobble Chippey got into mischief for the first time this year.  Hannah loves the day that he decorates the tree and calls it a tradition!
It will be fun to see what places Bobble Chippey finds to hang out between now and Christmas.

Adventures of Bobble Chippey 2014–Part II

Bobble Chippey has been an adventurous elf and Hannah has such fun each morning looking for him.  I must say that as the month has progressed, he has gotten into a little more mischief!
Last Sunday morning Hannah woke up to find he had decorated our Christmas tree!!

One morning she found him hanging out of the baking accessories and candy drawer.
After a few days of rain in a row Bobble Chippey decided he better get prepared!

And finally this week, Bobble Chippey watched Hannah and I wrap all our gifts and decided it looked like fun!
Only a few more nights before BC flies back to the north pole until next December.  We’ll miss this cute little guy!

Adventures of Bobble Chippey 2014–Part I

This day Bobble Chippey was a tough little guy to find but she eventually found him peaking out of the pocket of her rain coat.

Waiting for the Christmas cards to begin arriving.  It’s a good thing he found this spot early in the month as cards have started to arrive and it would have been a bit more crowded in there!

And finally posing with the portrait that Hannah created of BC.  I love the way she writes things right now.  If she runs out of room she just keeps on going around and around in circles.  Adorable!

I wonder what mischief this little guy will get up to in the next 12 days?  We sure are having fun with him again this year!

Bobble Chippey is Back!!

Hannah patiently awaited Bobble Chippey’s return and today was that day!  A few times over the weekend she commented, ‘Mommy, I wonder when Bobble Chippey is coming back?’ and we were pretty sure it would be soon!

I think he must have borrowed my camera after setting up our breakfast table and hit the ‘timer’ button to record his finished product.  Good job Bobble Chippey!

I like the more simplified version of the Elf breakfast that you created this year BC!  It was a hit with both of us.  Christmas Rice Krispies, Hershey Kisses scattered about the table and Disney Christmas Kinder Eggs.

Our little elf knows just where to find everything in our cupboards now, even the fancy Mickey glasses used for special occasions!  Today we filled them with ‘Christmas Milk.’  Yum!!

BC wrote Hannah note talking about how excited he was to be back and to play their ‘Can You Find Me’ game each morning!  He also said he’d heard that she’d begun to read so she could read some of the words in his Elf on the Shelf book that he’d brought back with him.  She couldn’t wait and tonight that was one of her stories.  When I began to read it to her she quickly stopped me and said, ‘Mommy!  Bobble Chippey said he wants to hear me read some of it too!’    She did help me and was pretty proud of herself.  She is really close to taking off reading, I just need to make more time for her to read to me. Trying to change that up right now.

Part of the decorations that BC uses each year are these fun little place mats we made in 2012 with her then 3yo little feet and hands.  Tonight as I made dinner (can a quick hot dog before running out to baton really be considered a meal???) I watched her as she carefully placed her hands and feet over those on the place mats to see how she’d grown.

When I came home from work tonight Hannah asked me how to spell Bobble Chippey.  I spelled it out and then later on saw that she’d drawn this picture for him at Ange’s.  Adorable!!!’

Welcome back Bobble Chippey!  It’s hard to believe that this is already your 4th year visiting us!  (2011, 2012 and 2013 - final year of her little puffy pull-up butt!) Hannah is beyond excited that you are back and I know you and she will have lots of fun each morning as she looks to find you in your new hiding spot!

Mommy! Bobble Chippey Came Back!!

Monday morning Hannah woke up to a special surprise provided by none other than ‘Bobble Chippey!’  She first woke up o find a path of Hershey kisses leading from her bed to the main floor.

Once down there it was clear to see that good ole Bobble Chippey was back!  Wheee! 

A tradition Bobble Chippey started last year was decorating our kitchen table and setting out breakfast for us so he did that again this year.  Thanks BC!

Bobble Chippey is a fun little guy who spends the day in our home watching all the wonderful things that Hannah does!  Each night he flies back to the North Pole and tells Santa what a good little girl she is and then flies back and finds a new place to hide.  Here are his hiding places so far this year.

and finally wearing Hannah’s gymnastics outfit.  This one concerned her a little bit as she can’t touch him so wasn’t sure what she would wear to gymnastics this morning but I was allowed to gently lift him out of the outfit and set him on the floor again.  (Hannah isn’t supposed to touch him.  This is the first year that she’s picked up on this and now takes it quite seriously.)

This sweet little guy is a treat to have in our home this Christmas season as I watch her face light up each morning as she searches for him and them grins when she finds him!

Bobble Chippey–What Are You Doing?

It’s safe to say that our cute little elf became much more mischievous as the month went along!  He started off pretty calm but I think he chatted with some of his elf friends while visiting the North Pole each evening because his antics became more interesting…and fun!  I love each morning when Hannah wakes up and says with excitement, ‘Mommy, Come on!  Let’s go find Bobble Chippey!’  She hops out of bed and together we go to find his latest hiding spot.  Sometimes we have to look a bit and other times he’s in plain sight.  Here are some of the fun places Hannah found her friend Bobble Chippey this month.

Around this time Hannah also realized that Bobble Chippey could be her own personal messenger to Santa.  Heh!  She figured this out all on her own and this day she whispered in his ear something she would like for Christmas.  Smart little sweetie!

This marked the day that Bobble Chippey began to be a little more impish upon his return from the North Pole.  This morning he was caught red handed checking out Hannah’s Christmas candy that was left from her Christmas breakfast.

Last week Bobble Chippey heard Hannah talking about having a pj day at daycare.  He wanted to be part of it too!

On this night he talked all of Hannah’s ‘fwiends’ into sitting together at the foot of the bed.  Hmmm…looking at this it’s no wonder there are some nights that I’m not sure where I’ll fit in our bed!

Now I’ve saved Bobble Chippey’s most mischievous antics for the end.  Here’s some of the stuff our little elf got into!  He wrote on our family picture using a dry erase marker.

Last night Bobble Chippey was a monkey once again!

As tonight is Christmas Eve Bobble Chippey will help Santa out with his gift deliveries and then make one final appearance tomorrow morning before returning to the North Pole to play with the other elves until next Christmas.  I’m sure all antics will be put aside tomorrow morning when Bobble Chippey reflects to Hannah that Christmas day is the day we celebrate Jesus’ birthday and the day He was sent to earth to be our Saviour.  Tomorrow we’ll begin our day remembering that and celebrating Jesus’ birthday!
