Sew In Love

20 years ago I took a smocking course at a local sewing store.  At the time I made a dress and bonnet and dreamed of the little girl – my little girl - my daughter – who would wear it one day.

Sunday that dream came true.IMG_8145

I must admit to being a little teary eyed when I dressed Hannah for church on Sunday.  The little dress that had hung in my closet for years and then in Hannah’s closet for the past 5+ years was now being worn by her – and she loved it!  We’re currently reading ‘Little House on the Prairie’ so she was excited to be dressed like Mary and Laura.  When we had a little photo shoot at Nana and Papa’s she even wanted to wear the bonnet. *sigh*  Wasn’t it just yesterday that I dressed her in adorable little bonnets all the time?  She’s growing up far too quickly!  I’m so thankful she was able to wear this dress before she outgrew it!

Somewhere Between - Currently Available to View Online!

I have not had an opportunity to watch my PVR'd copy of this excellent movie but will soon.  I need to find a quiet afternoon to sit, absorb, enjoy and yes, probably cry too as I view what others are claiming to be a not-to-be-missed movie!

For those who have not yet been able to see it I found out that our local TV Public Broadcast station is currently airing the movie online!

If you want to watch Somewhere Between please click here before November 10, 2012.

Hannah’s First Field Trip

Thursday was an exciting day!  It was Hannah’s first field trip that included her first ride on a school bus.IMG_8114

Mommy taught Hannah how much fun it is to sit at the back of the bus!  (For the record Mommy forgot how bumpy the back of the bus is!  Surprised smile )IMG_8096

Before we left the school Hannah and M posed for a picture.  I was excited to go on the trip to see who the kiddos were that Hannah talks about at home and who she plays with.  She and Mya met the first day of school when we introduced them and they still enjoy spending time together.IMG_8093

It was a cooler than normal day and the coldest one we’ve had yet this fall but we didn’t let that deter us and we set out for a morning of fun.

When we arrived at the farm we boarded a wagon and took a chilly ride out to the pumpkin patch.  What fun that all these pumpkins were the perfect size for our pre-school kiddos!IMG_8099

I tell you, choosing the right pumpkin is a big decision!

Mommy, I found it!!IMG_8105

E is the friend Hannah talks about most often and it was fun to see them spending time together in the pumpkin patch.  Even in the video above you can hear her talking about her sweet friend E!IMG_8107

After riding back from the pumpkin patch the kiddos enjoyed some playtime and also prepared to watch a pumpkin canon.  Cool!IMG_8111 - Copy

Hannah, I was so happy to share your very first field trip opportunity with you.  Looking forward to many, many more in the future!!IMG_8109

What’s the best thing to do with a little pumpkin?  Mommy thought we’d just put it on the front porch but Hannah had a much better idea.

Give it a bathIMG_8121

and then paint it many beautiful colours.  IMG_8127

Great idea XiaoFen!!  Your pumpkin is beautiful!IMG_8132

Happy 4th Birthday Makenna!

Hannah was excited to celebrate her cousin ‘Kenna’s’ 4th birthday with her!  She counted down sleeps for an entire week waiting for the party!  It was a fun little party with 5 sweet girls running around dressed as princesses and entertaining all of us.  Makenna’s big sissy Laken was on hand to provide manicures and pedicures for the adorable little princesses.IMG_8076

My sweetie still has the most beautiful, long fingers.IMG_8077

Hannah was excited to see one of her little friends K who she doesn’t get to see often.IMG_8079

The Tradition Continues

After apple picking we headed to one of our favourite sushi restaurants.  Mmm!IMG_8058

When we arrived home it was time to make apple crisp.  We pulled out our apple peeler and set to work.  Even though I don’t use it often it’s a great little tool, especially at times like this when we were making 5 apple crisps.  Sorry no pics – we ate them and gave them away before I thought to take pics.  Oops!DSC_0489

After our traditional supper of pancakes for the girls (dog bone shaped for Tor and Bec and Mickey Mouse shaped for Hannah) the girls played together.  I love to see them together and the older girls are amazing with her in spite of the age difference between them.  DSC_0492

At one point Hannah decided to teach the girls a Sunday School class.  So cool!  I’d never seen her do this and was excited to see her play school.DSC_0494

Included in this video is Hannah’s very first memory verse.  Oh how I love to hear her say it!

Sunday morning the girls were a big help and Hannah loved having her older cousins take care of her.DSC_0496

Our weekend ended with our weekly Sunday lunch at Nana and Papa’s before it was time to take the girls home.IMG_8068

We love you Bec Bec and Tor!  Let’s do this again soon!
