Easter Fun at a Local Farm

Saturday Hannah and I went to a local farm to enjoy the many activities they offered.  We’ve been a couple of other times and always enjoyed ourselves!
We started the morning decorating an Easter basket.  It was really neat to see how Hannah chose to decorate it.  I can say it was far more creative when she did herself than it would have been if Mommy had helped!  I was impressed to see that she cut pieces of ribbons and glued them on pieces of papers to spell her name.  Yup….I wouldn’t have thought of that one!  She’s my creative girl for sure!!
Face painting is always a hit with Hannah.
She tried out a few of the riding toys.  It’s neat to see how much her coordination and strength has changed this past year.  There are scooters in the kindergarten pen at school and it seems that’s her favourite thing to do each lunch hour.
The kids had such fun on this slide that was bumpy on the inside.  Heehee!
We eventually took a wagon ride out to a field where the kids could visit with bunnies and gather eggs.

Our time at the farm was a great way to share time together celebrating spring.  Easter is a 4 day weekend for us as work is closed for both Good Friday and Easter Monday and we cherish every single moment of this time together!!

I love that while Hannah and I can enjoy time at the farm, hunting for Easter eggs and more, if you asked her what Easter was all about she would confidently tell you about Jesus dying on the cross for us and then rising 3 days later and now living in heaven with God!  Yes, she gets it and I’m so thankful we can celebrate Easter in many ways!

Hannah’s First Field Trip

Thursday was an exciting day!  It was Hannah’s first field trip that included her first ride on a school bus.

Mommy taught Hannah how much fun it is to sit at the back of the bus!  (For the record Mommy forgot how bumpy the back of the bus is!  )

Before we left the school Hannah and M posed for a picture.  I was excited to go on the trip to see who the kiddos were that Hannah talks about at home and who she plays with.  She and Mya met the first day of school when we introduced them and they still enjoy spending time together.

It was a cooler than normal day and the coldest one we’ve had yet this fall but we didn’t let that deter us and we set out for a morning of fun.

When we arrived at the farm we boarded a wagon and took a chilly ride out to the pumpkin patch.  What fun that all these pumpkins were the perfect size for our pre-school kiddos!

I tell you, choosing the right pumpkin is a big decision!

E is the friend Hannah talks about most often and it was fun to see them spending time together in the pumpkin patch.  Even in the video above you can hear her talking about her sweet friend E!

After riding back from the pumpkin patch the kiddos enjoyed some playtime and also prepared to watch a pumpkin canon.  Cool!

Hannah, I was so happy to share your very first field trip opportunity with you.  Looking forward to many, many more in the future!!

What’s the best thing to do with a little pumpkin?  Mommy thought we’d just put it on the front porch but Hannah had a much better idea.

12th Annual Apple Picking Adventure

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 12 years that we’ve enjoyed this event together!  The very first time I ventured into the apple orchard with 2 little ones in tow Victoria was 2 and Rebecca was 1.  Ever since then it’s been an annual tradition and Hannah loves it too.  The older girls begin checking their calendars early in August to ensure we find a weekend that works for all of us.

After riding the wagon back to the orchards the girls humoured me with our annual ‘walking through the apple orchard’ picture.  This one was for Mommy.

This was the one Hannah preferred!

I had heard that our warmer than usual spring had played havoc with the apple orchards and that there were not as many apples but the trees were heavy with them. 

While the girls picked the apples I captured some pictures of my beautiful daughter and nieces.

I cannot tell you how thankful I am for the beautiful friendship that these girls share.  Truly their friendship is a gift from God.

Another fun apple picking adventure it behind us and we’ve already talked about how much fun we’ll have next year.  Oh how I love these girls!

More Farm Fun

Saturday morning after gymnastics Hannah and I headed to a local farm to meet up with Auntie K, Uncle J, Chick and Pea.  As I was driving I was thinking how blessed we are to live in a city with all it’s amenities and literally within a 5 minute drive we are in the country surrounded by farms.  Since Hannah has been home fall has taken on a whole new meaning as there are so many great things to do together as a family!

At the farm the kids had fun jumping and sliding in the jumping castle over and over again and the girls enjoyed face paining while Pea decided he was just fine with his cute little face as is.  I thought Hannah might like a cute little pumpkin cheek but she was set on a pink and purple flower that matched her coat.  It didn’t stay on long but was cute while it lasted.

We were able to visit the free range chickens

and even hold an egg fresh from the chicken

The final event of the day for us was decorating a pumpkin. 

Hannah fell asleep on our way home from the farm but reminded me this morning that we still needed to take pics of her with her adorable, colourful pumpkin!
