Yesterday we woke to a beautiful spring day which was perfect as we had a trip to the sugar bush planned with Auntie K, Uncle J, Chick and Pea! We had such fun wandering through the woods, up and down hills while trying sap right from the trees, going on a wagon ride and learning about sugaring processes from many years ago.
Hanging out on a tree stump with her friends
Hannah tried out the bucket method of old which was how they used to transport the sap from the trees. Considering it takes 40L of sap to make 1L of syrup, that’s a lot of trips!
Checking out the bucket of sap
She enjoyed the horse drawn wagon ride even thought this pic doesn’t show it.
Uncle J and his adorable kiddos.
…especially when you see the bigger picture. We were given little bags of birdseed to scatter along a path. Hannah saw Auntie K trying to entice the birds to eat out of her hands so she copied her by standing completely still with a few seeds in each hand. I love how observant Hannah is these days and how she’s learning by imitating those around her. Sure keeps me on my toes that’s for sure!
We’ve had a wonderfully sunny week with very little rain but the kiddos still managed to find ways to get a little of the outdoors on them. No problem. That’s what washing machines are for. I’d specifically waited until after our sugar bush trip to wash Hannah’s winter coat…again!
Hannah and I share many things and one of these is that when we’re hungry the grumpies can set in. After a long morning of gymnastics, hill climbing and playing, Hannah was hungry and ready for some lunch. Poor sweetie – yet this pic still makes me giggle. She was fine, just ready for lunch.
Thankfully minutes later we were tucking into pancakes with real maple syrup on them. Yum!
After we left the sugar bush we went to a nearby store where there were sweet little 5 day old chicks for the kiddos to meet.
Thank you for a great day Auntie K, Uncle J, Chick and Pea! We had such fun with you and look forward to our next adventure together!
My sweet little girl taking time to appreciate all that is around her. She reminds me daily with her actions to slow down and do the same.
