We waited until this week to celebrate (because of my busy schedule) but the wait was well worth it! Last night my mom, dad (on my left), Uncle Paul, Aunt Louise and I went to (Joel…please avert your eyes) the 'Mandarin' for supper. Yumm!!!
My aunt and uncle live only about 4 ½ hours away but due to the busyness of life we haven’t been together since Christmas. That’s FAR too long!! It was so good to spend the evening together with them and my parents. The 4 of them plus my Uncle Tim and Aunt Chris are planning a Florida vacation this November. I’m hoping they enjoy themselves so much that it becomes an annual affair and next year Hannah and I can mooch a week in Florida with Grandma and Grandpa at their condo. Yup…sounds perfect!
When I arrived my parent’s were just getting the table and Uncle Paul wished me a Happy Birthday. When dessert time rolled around we found out that the ladies at the reservation desk had been listening and a piece of birthday cake arrived at the table complete with a song, pictures and a souvenir magnet with the picture in it. Too sweet! That’s 2 years in a row that I’ve celebrated my b’day at the Mandarin. Sounds like a new, yummy tradition may have been started.
As we were leaving one of the gentlemen at the front desk noticed the magnet I was carrying with my picture in it and asked me to wait. He went into another room and quickly returned with this gift of a Chinese teacup and tea. What a wonderful surprise! (I've been there for many people's birthday's and this is the first I've seen them do this.) I told him about my pending adoption and he invited me back when Hannah arrives. That will be happening for sure!
Gotta love ‘The M!’ (**’M’ word omitted for the sake of my friend Joel who is still a little queasy after his attempt to eat shell fish….which he’s allergic to. Oops!)
And, for my GTA Waiting Mommies group, I found out one thing. Singing the b’day song is done in the same cute way at each Mandarin…Happy Birssday to me!
