It’s hard for me to accept how Hannah is growing and becoming more independent. I love caring for her and meeting as many of her needs as I possibly can and yet at the same time I need to allow her to grow and learn.
One Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago I was putting my make-up on and Hannah was playing in the playroom next door. Or so I thought. When I was almost done she ran up to me with a huge smile on her face and yelled, ‘SURPRISE!’ I looked down to see my little sweetie completely dressed for gymnastics and in a new outfit she’d put together herself! She had recently been given some new-to-her clothes from Ava (Thanks Liz and Ava!) and in those clothes was a new gymnastics outfit. It was light mauve and she’d found it in her dresser, put on undi*s, matching pants and even socks! Not only was she dressed (with her little outfit inside out which I left just that way) but it was all coordinated! I praised her up and down! She has since chosen her clothes some days and dressed herself often. Way to go Hannah!
Another step in Hannah’s growing up is that the high chair has been sold and even her booster seat has been set aside. She now sits in a ‘big girl seat’ and is doing pretty well. She sometimes needs reminders to stay at the table but all in all she’s doing great!
The final way (for today) that Hannah is demonstrating her new skills is in helping to prepare some pieces of her breakfasts herself. On mornings that we have extra time she likes helping me. This day is was Nute11a on an English Muffin. I’m not sure if there was more Nute11a on the bread or in her tummy but that’s ok…she had fun and that’s what matters!
You’re growing up so quickly sweetie. Mommy is here to help you every step of the way. (And do as much as you’ll allow me to do for you. )
I hate it that they have to grow so fast! But I love the crazy hair! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love the crazy hair too! Can you believe about once a week we're heading out the door to daycare and I suddenly realize it still looks like that! Oops! It's so adorable and I love it so that I forget to brush it. Heh!
DeleteAwww she's such a sweetheart and so grown up! Time really flies
ReplyDeleteSuch a good mama you are!
ReplyDeleteI love her morning hair! It is hard when they get more independent, not only because they need you less, but because they make more messes that way! Sorry, for thinking that way, but it is true. I love how she is on the little chair....so sweet and smart.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yes, Mommy has learned to keep an eye out for those little pink chairs in the kitchen. Sometimes I miss seeing them and oye - the toes! ;o0
