Disney 2013, Day 2: Fantasyland and MagicBands

This year I’m working hard at not over extending us on this trip.  I have a bad habit of doing this so am making a conscious effort not to repeat that this time.  Saturday we started our day with breakfast in bed!  Well, if you can count pouring a little box of cereal into a cup and adding milk as breakfast then we rocked it!IMG_0083

We had big plans for lunch so were thankful for the simple breakfast.  We headed to the Magic KingdomIMG_0089and then quickly made our way to the new, ‘Be Our Guest’ restaurant.  We had pre-booked a lunch reservation time which I was SO thankful for!!  The wait time was more than 60 minutes and it was beyond hot out.  I know Florida in August is not for all but we don’t mind it.  That being said it was the kind of hot that found me wiping beads of sweat from my forehead…when I was standing still!  Those who were waiting in the regular line were being well cared for though.  Disney is known for the way it cares for it’s guests and this was no exception.  Those waiting we given large golf umbrellas to shade them from the beating sun and coolers of water and lemon water were there for guests to help themselves.  I must say that I've noticed these in more locations and they’re a welcome addition. Hannah and I made our way into the Rose Room when dining at Be Our Guest and it was beautiful!  This restaurant is a new style for Disney in a variety of ways.

1.  It is a counter service restaurant at lunch and table service at supper.

2.  You place your order at a kiosk and then are either given a rose or in our case our bands indicated where we were sitting, and our food was delivered directly to our table.  Very efficient and i really enjoyed the theming of the entire restaurant!   The food was delicious and the quiet restaurant was a nice break from the parks.  I would highly recommend, ‘Be Our Guest’IMG_0093

From lunch we headed out into Fantasyland and used a combination of the regular FastPass system IMG_0096plus FastPass+ to efficiently tour the newest expansion of the Magic Kingdom.IMG_0098

Meeting Ariel with her tail on!  Hannah wore her Ariel dress in honour of the occasion and this was not lost on Ariel.  I love how Disney characters interact with Hannah and with all their guests.

Throughout the afternoon and evening we visited characters and rode a number of rides:  Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Goofy’s Roller Coaster, Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Mickey’s PhilharMagic.

At this point my camera died and as Hannah put it, ‘I was mad!!’  Yes, I was!  I’d upgraded to a newer version of the camera I loved and was getting nothing but lens errors when I attempted to turn it on.  I called home in a panic asking Nana to bring me a backup camera but thankfully all that was required was a charge to the battery.  Phew!!!  Why they couldn’t show a battery error I’ll never know!!

These pics are grainy as they were taken with my iPod touch.

After some character fun we took the train over to Frontierland to go on Big Thunder Mountain.  It was a huge hit again this year – Yay!  I love that Hannah enjoys the ‘big’ rides!

Our evening was completed by enjoying the Main Street Electrical Parade and the new show on the castle.  Seeing this show was a first for us and it was nothing short of amazing!!!  How they can make the castle do what they do is beyond me but truly a treat to see!

Tomorrow…our ‘CRAZY DAY!’  For the first time ever we’re attempting to hit all 4 parks in 1 day!!  We’ll see how it goes.  Our spirits are there; let’s see if our feet and legs are!

  1. Ouch! Four parks in one day--if anyone can do it, it will be you and Hannah. You certainly know how to rock the biggest dreamland of all. I think I want to travel with you sometime. I'm pretty high-powered, but you put me to shame. I definitely want to chat with you and be tutored how to rock the whole Disney adventure before we take Charlotte.
