My Little Princess

It’s hard to tell from these cute pics that Hannah was under the weather much of this past week.   She’d been battling what we found out to be strep throat all week and the call from the doctor with the official diagnosis came in just as we were preparing to go out trick-or-treating with her friends Owen, Noah and Grayson.  We’d spent a couple of days tucked away at home awaiting the diagnosis so she was ready to head out for some fresh air…I mean, candy!

I knew she wasn’t well when she willingly missed the Halloween party at school and also took not one, but two hour-and-a-half naps on Wednesday afternoon!   Yes, she was not herself for sure!

But, by Thursday evening her fever was almost gone, and her sore throat was no longer so I bundled her up and we set out for an hour of fun!  Thankfully the rain and wind held off until almost the end of our evening.

You would think with 2 days at home we would have taken the time to carve one amazing pumpkin!  Ummm…nope!  We found this great little pumpkin decoration at Target last weekend so the total time taken to prepare our pumpkin was something in the range of 30 seconds!  Oh yes, that works just fine for us!IMG_1176

As we prepared at home before heading over to Ange’s place Hannah about flipped with excitement when I started to put make-up on her!  I’ve sometimes pretended when putting on my own but this was her very first experience actually wearing it and she was one excited little girl!

We layered her up well and then donned her beautiful Belle gown!IMG_1179 - Copy

A fun evening was had by all!  Later in the week Hannah took stock.  Phew – she cleaned up and I think she’s pretty excited about that!!IMG_1200

  1. Strep is no fun at all! Glad she's feeling better and didn't miss out on trick or treating. Beautiful gown!

  2. Poor Hannah... I am glad she is better. Tate has been sick for about 10 days with Hand Foot Mouth disease and strep but felt so much better just in time for Halloween. It would be so sad to miss all the fun of collecting ALL THAT CANDY. Now I am trying to see how I can ditch the candy since she is not eating it but I am.

    1. Oh I know your pain. Hannah is sound asleep in bed and I'm surrounded by 3 empty candy wrappers with 2 more waiting to be devoured. This stuff needs to go! And, preferably not into me!!

  3. Oh how well I remember the days of organizing all my candy into different types of piles on the floor after trick or treating!

  4. I just saw those pumpkin kits half off at Walmart. You should swing by and see if they are on clearance at yours, it would be great to do again next year!.

    1. Thanks for the tip! Two good things are that a) it was on 50% off when I bought it was weekend so I only paid $2.50 and, b) it's totally reusable! Woo hoo! She is already out of the pumpkin and on her way into the holiday storage bin.

  5. Love the pumpkin topper--I think I should swing by Walmart, but I suspect by this time, I'm likely too late. We, too, didn't find the time to carve a pumpkin, so I just set a couple of small ones on the steps up to our house--went for the harvest look. Instead, I took a few minutes to decorate the walk-in and front hallway while Charlotte was at school. She was so happy and excited when she got home. I love the joy on her face for a few minutes of decorating.

Sorry to hear that Hannah was under the weather, but happy to hear that she is well on her way to recovery.

  6. Oops! I forgot to say in my last message what a beautiful little princess Hannah is, both with and without the costume on.
