Once again Hannah enjoyed going to ‘nastics’ first thing Saturday mornings. This is the third session she’s attended and wow has she improved! When she started in January of 2011 she was a month shy of her 2nd birthday and a successful class was when I could keep her from running into the competitive girl’s side of the gym and shouting, ‘I do dat!’ (Heh…considering one of the gals she was watching will be representing Canada in the Olympics next month my girl is aiming high! ) Now she (normally) listens to her coaches and her skills are improving every single month!
This year to help keep the kids focused on graduation day we sat upstairs in the normal viewing area for the majority of the class. 4 of her classmates were also absent that day so she and her friend ‘I’ had a 1:1 ration with their coaches. Finally the coaches stood a little chance against our busy pre-schoolers!
Here’s a peak at her working on the floor. I was totally impressed by her handstand against the wall as it was the first time I’d seen her do it with such strong arms!
Check out the look in my monkey’s eyes. You can see why the coaches have their work cut out for them!

Ta Da! Hannah’s graduation pose.
Thanks Coach Bria and Coach Brittany!
One of the really fun things that has happened this year at gymnastics is that we have become good friends with one of the other families. The kiddos enjoy being in class together and the Mommies enjoy our Saturday morning visits. What began as classmates has now progressed to friends that we get together with outside of class and visit their home. We’re even going to be at Disney at the same time this coming August so have booked a dinner together! The kids are going to be super excited when they realize we’re all going to be there at the same time!!
Congrats Hannah, I and M! Great job!!
Last year we took the summer off of gymnastics but this year the times were better for our schedule and I had the opportunity to put her in a class with a great coach who is high in demand by the Kindergym parents so I took advantage of that. It will be great to see the progress she makes over the 8 weeks with her new coach!
This quick video was taken later in the afternoon on the day of her graduation. Any opportunity to roll, flip or spin is a good one!
I just caught up on your blog. Fun stuff going on! I'm so impressed by Hannah's gymnastics skills. Wow! And her sense of direction...she is one smart girl!
ReplyDeleteI've always been amazed by how strong her skinny little arms and legs are! her strength, determination and lack of fear ;) will take her soooo far! I look forward to watching the olympics in another 15 years or so, I'll be able to say I know that girl :) hey perhaps I should lay off my usual line of "this is not gymnastics hannah" and let her practice ;)
