My Cautious Eater

I love to watch Hannah eat little things like Cheerios or Gerber Puffs. She's cautious and determined and doesn't get frustrated with the attempts and it's absolutely adorable to watch! She often gets them to her mouth but either she can't find them or they stick to her long, beautiful piano fingers and she just can't get them in. It's so cute!!
When one eventually makes it in she is wonderfully cautious to finish it before putting another one in. She has been like this since the day we met and I began feeding her Cheerios broken into 1/4's. If there is any in there she'll wait to open her mouth until this piece is done, thank you very much! Saturday night at Grandma and Grandpa P's she almost proved me wrong though when she got quite a large piece of Mum mum in her mouth so mommy (thinking she was helping) tried to scoop it out. Oh...the look in those eyes about broke our hearts! It was like, 'What did I do?' I learned my lesson after that and she was just fine with her mum mum and could handle the pieces even though I kept a really close eye on her.

Here's a little Cheerio moment. Not sure how many truly make it into her mouth as I clean many off the floor and out of the seat of her high chair but she sure does enjoy the challenge! I am so thankful to capture all these precious moments as time is fleeting and she is changing and learning so much every single day!!!

  1. So sweet. I was giggling watching the video. Just adorable.

OK..."Mum mum" translated would be...??? I remember when Chris was little and he'd have little pieces of muffin. It would gum up in the roof of his mouth if it was too fresh and I'd have to dig it out for him. Never a happy experience either.

    Have a good day,
    Love ya,
    Joy

  9. Tee Hee - so cute!
Mia loved Mum-Mums! The good thing about them is that they turn to mush pretty quickly with a mouthful of saliva!!!

It took Mia a while to get the pincer grasp down pat too. It's so cute watching them try and get those things into their mouths!

  11. Here's a funny thing.....I was reading your post and thinking to myself "what is a mum mum?" and then the very same day my friend came back from Canada and said, "I have something I think your daughter will love" and pulled out a packet of "Mum Mum's"! We are just back from China 2 months and the mum mums are exactly like biscuits she LOVED in China. I brought some home from China with us but the supplies had run out, so it was such a treat for her to get "Mum Mums" - are they specifically a Canadian thing?

By the way, I am loving reading your blog and your daughter is an absolute gem! :) I relate to so much of what you are saying in each post too - love reading your updates!
