Florida Trip - Day 3 - Part I

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

The day began bright and early as we had a very important breakfast date with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang!! Mickey called our room to wake us up at 5:30 to make sure that we didn't miss any of the fun! I woke up and got myself ready then woke Hannah at the last possible moment. True to her happy little self she was ready for the day to begin even though it was a couple of hours earlier than normal for her.

We left our room shortly after 6:30 and drove over to pick up Auntie D and Daphne. They were ready for a day of fun too! We made our way over to Disney's Contemporary Resort in time for our 7:35 reservation. The fact that we even had this opportunity was a true gift! Character meals at Chef Mickey's fill up 180 days prior to current date so a reservation at the last minute was next to impossible to get. The Friday prior to leaving for FL I realized that it would be really neat for Hannah to meet Mickey Mouse but with us not going to any of the parks I didn't think it would be possible. Suddenly it came to me that Mickey hosted a couple of breakfasts at Disney resorts so I was going to ask for the impossible. I called Disney Dining and said I was looking for a miracle...breakfast at either O'Hana or Chef Mickey's for the coming Monday or Tuesday. You can imagine my shock (and excitement!) when there was something available at Chef Mickey's!! Someone must have just called in moments before and cancelled their reservation to open this spot. How cool that it was an opportunity for D and I to take our sweeties to breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto?!!

When we first arrived the Disney staff took this fun picture of the 4 of us.
From there it was off to our table and get set for the fun to begin. We were at the top of a few stairs so could easily see when the characters were on their way.

At one point 3 of the characters were at tables near us and the girls just looked on in wonderment!

Donald was the first character to visit our table and the girls did really well with him!! He showed up ready to play games and Hannah was only too happy to play with him.

My video camera ran out of batteries at this point so I just have pics to share of the other characters.

The girls were so good sitting through breakfast and visiting with the characters that we wanted to give them some time to run around before heading to the monorail for a trip around the resort loop. Here they are walking and crawling and enjoying the newfound freedom that their mobility has brought!

Monorail fun

More fun from Day 3 to come....
