Thank You and Happy New Year!!
You are the best friends! Thank you so much for all of your prayers, kind words and encouragement! I posted my note about Grandma late Saturday night and when I woke early Sunday morning there were already many, many comments and emails from friends waiting. Thank you!
It is difficulte to say good-bye to Grandma yet at the same time I know she is so much better off. Her body had failed greatly in the past month so for her it is a blessing that now she is at peace and no longer in pain.
As always, God's timing was perfect. I am so thankful that He allowed my mom and her brothers and sisters to spend a lot of time with Grandma over the past month. Each of them had the opportunity to be with her, tell her how much they love her and then allow her to go when she needed to.
The last time I was with Grandma was last Wednesday when my mom, dad and I went to visit her. She didn't wake up during our visit but we still talked to her, laughed as we relived many of the fun times we'd shared together and just celebrated being with her. It was so hard to say good-bye that day as I felt it really could be the last time that I saw her alive and it was. Thank you Lord for allowing me to say good-bye to Grandma and spend this time with her!
Visitation will be tomorrow and the funeral on Thursday morning. I was hoping to travel back to Windsor today but it looks like the weatherman has other plans! See that pretty red line of snow storms? That's the exact path I need to drive. Oops!
It's a 5 hour drive in good weather so I won't be tackling that one today. It is supposed to clear overnight so hopefully I'll be on my way early tomorrow morning. It will be a quick trip as I return home Thursday night and we leave for Disney Friday afternoon. Talk about a roller-coaster of emotions this week! I love that after this difficult time this week Rebecca, Sharon, Victoria and I will have an opportunity to be at the 'Happiest place on earth.' Grandma would want us to have a good time and we will!
I hope you all had a great evening celebrating and welcoming in 2008!! Oh how I hope to see sweet Hannah's face in 2008 but if not, just knowing this is the year that she will be born is causing my heart to flutter this morning. Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Hello my beautiful friend - I've been so bad in keeping up with blogs over the holidays, and I'm so sorry to come here and hear about your grandma - my deepest condolences to you sweetie. And yes, what a blessing it was that the entire family got to spend time with her this holiday.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to wish you a fabulous 2008; this year is sure to be a great one! I just know it!
Dear Catherine,
ReplyDeleteI just came to your blog and see that you've also just lost your grandmother. I feel a special kinship with you at this time as we both have lost our dear grandmothers. I like to think that they are looking after our daughters for us until we can bring them home.
Hope you are doing better and that your family continues to pull together during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteWishing you happiness in 2008!
