Our cruise is now just 6 1/2 weeks away so it was time to share the news with Hannah! Besides, Mommy was just too excited to keep it a secret any longer!!
I’d often wondered how I might share the news with her and in the end decided to use a few different ideas that I’d gained from others.
First there was a phone call from Goofy with the big announcement!
I was pretty sure she’d need more clues so I made up a poster for her to ‘read’.
She quickly figured it out and was squealing with joy! I had made a cake and iced it but that was all. Hannah looked at it earlier in the morning and said, ‘Mommy, that’s a really plain cake.’ Little did she know the topper that was waiting to be added.
Since we’ll be on board for Hannah’s 5th Birthday, she felt candles and singing ‘Happy Birthday’ were in order. Sweet!
I booked this cruise for us almost a year ago so it’s been a long, long time to keep the secret. I’m so thankful it worked out as her reaction was priceless! Nana is retiring at the end of this month so we’re excited that she is joining us too! Mom and Dad will be on their cruise to Hawaii while we’re in the Caribbean.
I’ve been tucking away a few little treats for Hannah so gave her a couple of them yesterday. A sweet little sundress with hearts and anchors on it
and a pirate dress for my adorable little girl to wear on pirate night.
I cannot express how excited I am for this trip! It’s been a dream for a long time and I’ve been saving for it since before Hannah was born and I’m sure it will build memories that last a lifetime! 5 is the perfect age and I know the 3 of us will have a great time together!!
Only 45 more sleeps!! Wheeee!!!!
Oh so jealous but you will LOVE it I am sure. Maybe one day we can go on one...Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteso much fun! you guys will have the time of your life!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to reveal the big surprise. I'm so jealous--I love cruising and would love to share the experience with Charlotte one day. Even more special is sharing the great adventure in the company of our girls' favourite characters. Love the pirate dress--you will both have a ball. Can't wait to see and hear all the details. What islands will you be visiting?
ReplyDeleteOur ports are St. Maartens, St. Thomas and Disney's private island Castaway Cay. One of the many reasons I chose this cruise was because of the 3 days at sea as I know we'll want to enjoy what the ship has to offer.
DeleteI'm not familiar with Disney's private island, but I'm very familiar with the other 2 ports of call--both offer great deals on jewellery, if you're in the market. I've bought most of my expensive jewellery on this island--one time, I got so caught up in buying that I almost missed my ship's departure. I'll never forget running up to the ship to see all my friends hanging over the edge calling my name. Moments later, the ship staff pulled up the bridge--whew! That was close. St. Thomas also has great deals on linen tablecloths. I loved the days at sea to enjoy and explore all that the ship has to offer, even if it is just sitting pool side enjoying a nice cool drink, soaking up some wonderful sun's rays.
DeleteThis looks like a great way to get out of the Canadian cold weather and I am glad to see it is not very expensive.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I guess 'not very expensive' depends on your income. It has taken me 7 years of dedicated saving to save for the smallest, least expensive, inside cabin on the ship. For us it is expensive but money I'm happy to spend after dreaming and planning for thus for so long.
DeleteThat was the cutest thing ever! Loved her reaction!!!
ReplyDeleteWhooo hoooo! I love the memories travel leaves you with. I'm so excited for you!!
ReplyDeleteYou.Will.Love.It. First thing my peanut said when we got of the Disney Dream was, "that wasn't long enough!!!!"
ReplyDeleteYes indeedy....you.will.love it.
Are you kidding me? Best mom EVER! Loved the color of her cake. She is so cute. Can't wait to hear about your trip.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear all about your cruise! I know you 3 will have a fantastic time! Happy Birthday Hannah! What a special way to celebrate being 5!! (I tried to post a comment earlier, but I think it deleted itself. Or it may show up eventually. Lol)
ReplyDeleteSooo cute! Excited for you!
ReplyDeleteYou will both love it! I know you have read & researched, but one little tip...line up EARLY to see the princesses (trust me!). Enjoy!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I'm sure we'll see our fair share of princesses so this is greatly appreciated!
DeleteCongrats! You'll love it as they do things first class for families.
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be so much fun.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Tell us all about it! We may need to plan one someday; we have never been on a cruise yet! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteAlyzabeth's Mommy
Love it!!! Hannah's reaction was priceless. I could see her wheels turning trying to figure out why on earth Goofy was calling. Fun! Now the REAL countdown begins and so much nicer as the two of you (three) can share the fun of counting down together! I am so looking forward to reading all about it!
ReplyDeleteoh, that video made me cry! how wonderful that you captured her reaction on video! you will have a wonderful time, can't think of a better way to celebrate a milestone birthday like 5!
ReplyDeleteYou may know this, but on the cruise you can bring an item to get signed. I've brought a couple of different things on our times on the "Disney Boat", but my favorite item is the mat from a picture frame. I've been able to update it with pictures from different cruises or when we went to Disney World and it has grown with her. You will have a fabulous time! It's my favorite vacation as a single parent as I get some "me time" when my daughter is in the kid's club. Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! We have a photo mat and also a pillow case packed for the characters to sign. Thanks for your tiips
